Sparkling acidity! Deep florals! Sweet, fresh blueberry! Wanja Kersa comes to us from the Jimma zone in Western Ethiopia. Processed at the Atoma washing station (also sometimes referred to as Telila Site 2), Atoma had its first full season of operation during 2022/2023. Though the Atoma station is new, it is in experienced hands. It the second washing station, the first being Telila, created by regarded specialty coffee producer and agronomist, Mike Mamo.
We've had several excellent Telila coffees in years past including Yukro and Kola. This new lot represents the collective work of smallholder farmers in the Wanja Kersa Kebele. The coffee variety is primarily '74112', a variety selected by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) for its yield potential and resistance to coffee berry disease. Wanja Kersa is clean, bright, and balanced. We're all but transported to the moment we first fell in love with washed Ethiopian coffee as we sip Wanja Kersa.
