Mazateca Mujeres is a selection of microlots, all delivered under the name of a female producer. These lots are stellar—scoring between 86-87 points. Our importer Osito has started building what they call “community microlots”, lots that are compiled of parchment deliveries that are effectively too small to consider as a complete separation, but have too admirable of quality to just be blended away. The Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca is brimming with vibrant coffees and a local culture to match. We are especially excited to offer a selection of lots solely produced by women. It is often men who get all the credit despite women playing an active role in the manual labor on the farm, as well as high-level decision making. What you’ll find in the cup is truly special. The mouthfeel is intensely smooth and the aftertaste is that of a rich dark chocolate with subtle fruity characteristics. You will notice a structured flavor profile that has rosewater florality and boasts nutty almond notes of marzipan. Best brewed at a 1:18 coffee to water ratio.
