Several of our strongest connections in Colombia are with producers from southern Huila, specifically San Agustín. We are thrilled to offer another selection from the south by producer José Joaquin Bolaños. He is the Copa de Oro 2025 1st place winner for all of southern Huila.
Last November, we had the honor of judging in Copa de Oro, an annual competition for coffee producers in southern, central, and western Huila. Hosted by our Colombia-based importing partners, Osito, Copa de Oro is a celebration of the farming communities Osito works with year-round.
Coffees from over 60 producers are entered into the competition. The entries are tasted blind and judged by average cup score. The coffee we selected is an exemplary representation of the beautiful flavors emerging from Huila. It is a washed Gesha produced by José Joaquin Bolaños. Not only did he take first place in the southern division, he was third place in all of Huila.

2025 marks our third year judging in Copa de Oro, which began in 2022. More than just a competition, the visit to Huila is a moment to pause and learn. It presents an opportunity for us to gather at origin with coffee producers, sourcing partners, and fellow roasters from across the globe. Every year, we learn more about the communities who produce our coffee.
