We are incredibly proud to be featuring another top 10 finisher from the 2018 Acevedo Cup Competition! Jhon’s 7th place lot is really beautiful this year: spicy, rich, sweet, complex - exhibiting many of the unique cup qualities that put Acevedo coffees on the map.

As with other high-elevation Acevedo farms subject to daily rains and dense jungle cloud cover, QC is most difficult during drying and fermentation. Jhon Wilson Poveda placed 10th with his entry in the inaugural 2017 Acevedo Cup, then invested his extra earnings into his fermentation and drying facilities, and placed two top-ten lots at the competition this year. It’s inspiring to see the investments that Jhon made to his farm result in even greater success and we can’t wait to see (and taste!) what comes next.

In the cup, we're enjoying aromatic baking spices like clove and allspice, the richness of dried mango that lasts a bit longer than its fresh and juicy ripe incarnation, and the mild, palate-cleansing bitterness of an orange marmalade.
